Picture Yourself Here: Opens August 27th & 28th

It's the last weekend of August and here it comes. Next week, we enter the Fall market. Anticipation is high with hopes of more inventory to finally satisfy the buyers who have been out all summer searching for the right home. If you know someone who has been contemplating a sale, encourage them to contact me. It should remain a seller's market through to December. When the Fall market floods with new listings, buyers have got to come to a showing tour prepared. Now is the time to get your pre-approval in order. Contact your preferred lender, or reach out to me for some recommendation on who to speak with. Review The New York Times Interactive Buy vs. Rent tool to see how your rent payment s

Celebrating 100 on the C&O

This year, the National Park Service celebrates 100 years. Today marks the actual birthday and this weekend many parks, which typically have an entry fee, are free of charge through Sunday. In DC, we are a bit spoiled with national parks surrounding us. And one runs right through my neighborhood of Georgetown. The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, better know as The C&O Canal is one of my favorite spots in the city. When I moved to DC, visiting the Canal, riding the historic boat, and listening to the history of the water, was one of the first tourist activities I remember. Today, the Park remains one of the places you can find me in most often. I love running along the Canal, using it as a beautiful

Figs & Feta

I adore figs. They are one of the best late summer treats. My Grandmother Baxter (Annie, for whom I am named) had a fig tree in her yard, right outside of her kitchen window. Visiting her, and that tree, when the figs were ripe for the picking is one of my favorite memories of her. We ate them fresh off the tree or in her yummy, homemade preserves. I found some ripe, organic figs at Trader Joe's on Monday. Mixed those with feta, chicken, and arugula from the Dupont Fresh Farm Market. Then tossed it all with Laconiko Extra Virgin Olive Oil from The Cookery and Maldon salt.

HELLO? Is anyone out there? Why, yes! Lots of people are, actually. You might hear from some that August is a quiet time for real estate and some might persuade you to hold off on listing your house until September. DON'T. August is a great time to sneak in and get your property listed and sold before the rush of the Fall Market. I've been working with multiple buyers who are just not finding the house of their dreams. Maybe you know someone who has been on the fence about listing this summer? I'd love to speak with them to see if their listing would work for one of my buyers. Feel free to have them give me a call or email. For my potential buyers out there, here are some of the most intere

Picture Yourself Here: Opens August 13th & 14th

While many people head out of town to beat the city heat, August can be a great time to house hunt. Great deals are often found in this last month of summer. Have you been watching a house that has been listed a while? Let's discuss an appropriate offer strategy. Ready to buy something new to market? Presenting a strong offer with fewer contingencies might seal the deal. Time to sell your house? There is a smart marketing strategy of advertising when your competition is quiet. The same applies to real estate. The competition may not be as tough this month, so let's get your house listed before Fall when the market is sure to heat up. How to Lower Stress During a Real Estate Transaction

Purchasing or selling a home can be a stressful experience, whether you’re a first-time buyer or you’ve been through the process numerous times. Saving you some of the stress is where I come in. Working together, I make your home buying or selling experience organized, transparent and even enjoyable. How do I do that? Here are some examples: First-timers: There are a lot of things to learn about buying a home--how to get pre-approved, what does a home inspection tell you, what's an appraisal, how should I negotiate and more. I've been through the process personally, and professionally, and will guide and counsel you each step of the way. Out-of-town buyers: If you’re are moving in from out o
