Many terms make up the total contract you offer for purchasing a home. One important piece--or term--of your offer is the EMD. The EMD (earnest money deposit) ultimately becomes part of your down payment, but gets deposited and held by the title company upon contract ratification.

The EMD: shows your seriousness, shows are committed to purchase, and shows you have financial stability to purchase the property.
