Recording History in 40 Minutes

On April 14th, StoryCorps' mobile Airstream rolled into DC for a 5-week stay. StoryCorps is an oral-history project whose mission is to record and archive American stories through an intimate interview among two family members.

While in DC, StoryCorps will record 7 stories a day. They kicked off their DC interviews with a conversation with Diane Rehm done by her son David. David's questions for his mother included what it was like to move from motherhood to a career, what it was like growing up in an Arabic home in the 40s and 50s in DC, and her experience with education.

Interested in hearing some of the conversations? Head over to StoryCorps' website. Some conversations are also shared on NPR as part of their Morning Edition on Fridays.
